The players had an opportunity to test their skills against one team from each division, and they performed incredibly well. The Hornets tied Marian (Division I) 1-1, defeated Mercy (Division II) 1-0 and won against Cranbrook-Kingswood (Division III) 2-0.Saline field hockey is only in its second year, and its players currently play Division IV since the program is so new. Head coach Donald Hes thought the tournament was incredibly promising given the current novelty of the sport.
"It shows that the Saline team has matured since last year and is expected to become a very competitive team in the near future," he said.
The field hockey team also played a crossover game against Ladywood Aug. 26. The Hornets tied 0-0.
