Hornet scrimmage a preseason tool
Coaches get first look at players' progress

The recent football scrimmage hosted at Saline High School looked to be a very useful experience for players and coaches alike. The attending teams were able to informally run their offense and defense against new opponents. Events like this are important for revealing strengths and weaknesses, as well as testing the players' understanding of different formations and plays.

The teams attending the scrimmage included Saline, Livonia Franklin, Dearborn and Novi. Each team had opportunities to take half of the field and square off against someone new.
Head coach Michael Glennie thought the day was a very useful tool prior to the start of the season.
"It was a great day of football for us to see our kids at all three levels go against other teams," he said. "We always learn a lot from this day each year about what we are doing well and what we need to work on. It's always exciting to watch our athletes develop into a team. We are making great strides in that area."
The Hornets will test what they learned Friday at EMU Game Day when they play Ann Arbor Pioneer at 8 p.m.
