The Saline Stix 10-U travel baseball team will hold tryouts for the 2009 season from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at Saline recreation fields No. 3 and No. 4, located at the corner of Industrial and Textile roads. Players age 10 and younger as of May 1, 2009, are eligible. Other information is available at the Web site www.eteamz.com/salinestix
Open tryouts will be held for a Saline-based Southeast Michigan U-13 AAA travel baseball team for the 2009 season from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 16. Tryouts will be held at the Saline Recreation Center field No. 4 at the corner of Woodland Drive and Textile Road.
To be eligible, players must not turn the age of 14 before May 1, 2009.
During the 2009 season, the team will compete in the KVBSA league and several tournaments. The rain date is Aug. 17, if needed, same time and location. Contact Bill Barnett via e-mail at wbarnett@umich.edu to confirm a child's attendance.
The Saline Slam 13-U travel baseball team will hold open tryouts for its 2009 team from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 23 on field No. 4 at the Saline Recreation Complex. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. The rainout date is from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 24.
The Slam will play about 20 league games in 2009, primarily in Washtenaw County. In addition, the Slam will compete in four to five tournaments in southern Michigan.
Indoor practices will begin in January. Prospective players should not turn 14 before May 1, 2009.

The Saline Men's Soccer Alumni game will take place Wednesday at the main high school turf field. All participants should respond to JV coach Ian Sturms at 429-2598.
The game will take place at 6:30 p.m. Spectators will get the chance to see past Hornets take on the new varsity squad. Admission is free.
The Saline Men's Soccer Hornet Classic Scrimmages will take place Aug. 15 at both high school turf fields and the old varsity grass field located behind Saline Middle School.
Fourteen of the finest teams in the state, including five that finished in last year's state top 10, will compete in a series of scrimmages.
The schedule for the games is posted on the Saline Men's Soccer Web site at www.salinehornetsoccer.net. Admission to the event is free.
