A number of Saline Kiwanis Club and Boy Scout volunteers worked diligently on Thursday, July 24 to help give Michigan Avenue a shine as a part of the MDOT Adopt-A-Highway program.
Mike Raham, vice president and treasurer of the Kiwanis Club in Saline reported the event as a "success."
"We had 10 Boy Scouts, four adult Scout leaders and three Kiwanians come out," according to Raham. "It took an hour and a half we ended up collecting 23 bags of trash."
The Kiwanis Club participates in three Adopt-A-Highway events a year.
"The first one is in April and that’s when the road is at its worst. Then we do this one in July and another in September," states Raham.
The Kiwanis Club participates in a number of community service events each year.
The Club meets at Brecon Village on Monday’s at 5:45 p.m. for dinner and a meeting and according to Raham, "we always welcome members of the community into our meetings."
