Soccer team shows potential UPDATED Aug. 27, 2008 6:25 PM EST The Saline varsity boys' soccer team took its first SEC win Aug. 21 when it beat rival Ann Arbor Pioneer on Pioneer's home turf. The Hornets defeated the Pioneers 2-1, which appears much closer than the game actually was.
Golfers take third twice, win one UPDATED Aug. 27, 2008 6:14 PM EST For the Saline varsity girls' golf team, it was looking to be a rebuilding year. But a third-place finish Aug. 18 in the Bedford Invitational, a painless win against Lincoln the following day, and a third-place finish at the Chelsea Invitational Aug. 21 show that may not be the whole truth.

Hornet scrimmage a preseason tool UPDATED Aug. 27, 2008 6:25 PM EST The recent football scrimmage hosted at Saline High School looked to be a very useful experience for players and coaches alike. The attending teams were able to informally run their offense and defense against new opponents. Events like this are important for revealing strengths and weaknesses, as well as testing the players' understanding of different formations and plays.
Saline Impact wins prestigious silver UPDATED Aug. 27, 2008 6:25 PM EST The Saline Impact, Saline Area Soccer Association's U-19 Premier Team, competed in the Michigan Challenge Cup in Lansing Aug. 16 and 17. After four strongly-played games, the Impact took second place overall.
Golfers defeat Lincoln UPDATED Aug. 27, 2008 6:14 PM EST The junior varsity girls' golf team defeated Lincoln handedly Aug. 19 at Pine View Golf Course with a 198 to the Railsplitters' 227.
Team places second, wins artistic award UPDATED Aug. 27, 2008 6:29 PM EST The Saline Twirlettes have been top contenders in the Senior Halftime Division for the past five years and this year challenged the top position again.
Second year starts strong UPDATED Aug. 27, 2008 6:25 PM EST The Saline High School girls' field hockey team kicked off its season Aug. 23 at the EGR Field Hockey Tournament in East Grand Rapids.
